Photography of Bee-eaters - Birdinginspain.com

Description

At the end of April, after having spent the winter in Africa, the Bee-eater arrives, one of the most colourful birds in Europe. It is a bird that is typical of the steppes, Mediterranean scrubland and farmland, which makes its nest in tunnels excavated with its bill and legs in earth banks, often in small colonies.

This Phototrip is focused on photographing Bee-eater - Photo by Jan-Michael BreiderPhoto by Jan-Michael Breider

It feeds on bees and other insects and is an abundant species in the region. Bee-eaters often breed in the same bank year after year. Making use of this fact a hide is located near a known colony before the Bee-eaters arrive, at a spot where the birds normally stop before entering the nest.
