Cap de Creus Natural Park Itinerary 2/2

Turn left at the junction following the GI-614 down to Cadaqués. Spectacled Warbler can be seen at several points in the general area, although it has a localised distribution and some walking may be needed to find it, at for example the Mas dels Bufadors and the Mas d'en Duran (the latter to the north of Cadaqués).

At the entrance to Cadaqués take the road to the left which leads to Cap de Creus. After some 5kms a track on the left leads to Mas dels Rabassers de Baix. Here you can park and follow on foot to the Mas dels Rabassers de Dalt, which is a good migrant trap when the conditions are right. Return to the vehicle and continue on to the lighthouse of Cap de Creus. A walk around the headland could reveal Blue Rock Thrush, Rock Thrush, Thekla Lark, Sardinian Warbler and Pallid Swift. Wallcreepers are regular visitors in the winter months. However, most of all this is an ideal location for a spot of seawatching where, with a bit of luck, you might observe both Yelkouan and Balearic Shearwater, Cory's Shearwater, Gannet, skuas and gulls.

Return to Roses via Cadaqués and the GI-614, although if time permits and there are still some species you would like to see, after passing the junction at the Coll de Perafita take the turning on the left (GI-620), which gives you the option of visiting the coves of Montjoi and Jóncols as well as the Cap de Norfeu and further chances of birds such as Red-rumped Swallow, Ortolan Bunting and warblers.
